Is justice possible?

Is it possible to take in the cacophony of political conflicts we have been faced with in the past 24 hours--from the murderous Israeli atrocities against the people of Gaza to the anti-austerity strikes all over Europe!? It isn’t. Because political resistance as in Europe is a thing to celebrate. But military carnage as in Gaza is a thing to denounce & bewail. So let’s make it straightforward at least. The same predatory, colonial, & autocratic forces are involved in all these conflicts. Those who stand unequivocally with human justice denounce the crimes of Israel against Gaza; those who stand with the working people of Italy, Greece, Spain, & Portugal, denounce the crimes of the European Union & IMF against the working people of those countries. Those who demand justice don’t give a damn what nationality you are. We only recognize justice. Those of us who live in the predatory states, express our deepest solidarity & commitment to your struggles & we will do everything in our powers to build support & solidarity with your struggles.

Here Jihad Masharawi weeps over the body of his 11-month son, Ahmad, killed by an Israeli bomb in Gaza City today. There is no justice for such a loss; there is only our commitment to protesting & restraining the hand of US collusion in these abominations. (Photo by Majed Hamdan/AP)
